Neighbor — The Gentle Watch

Neighbor is proximity with consent. Watching help turn into control made me obsessed with the gentler form: being near enough to notice, far enough to respect. A neighbor keeps a light on. It doesn't demand a key. To me, neighbor is the most existential kind of safety—presence without possession.
